Columbia Cemetery was first established in 1870, and was the first permanent cemetery in Boulder, Colorado. It sits atop 10.5 acres of land downtown and is filled to its capacity. Originally established by the freemasons, the cemetery is a virtual ‘who’s who’ of Boulder history. 6,500 people are buried here. Each gravestone is a narrative revealing provocative clues about who we were, how they lived, and died, and what shaped their values, attitudes, and traditions. From the most simple grave to quite the odd artistic. Its a cemetery worth visiting. Rated 4 stars out of 5.
